His Hand Is In Our Seasons

‘Tis the season to be thankful,

To reflect on all that’s good.
Our focus on what all we have
Not what we think we should.

For as the seasons come and go,
And we revel in their change
God’s perfect plan the whole year long
Not ours to rearrange.

Same with seasons in our lives
Times to harvest and to bloom
Everyday…a thanksgiving
We invite God into the room.

You see, He’s the only One
For us to give our thanks and praise
His hand is in our seasons
As we travel out our days.

When Enough Is Enough

God constantly pursues
After me He will chase.
My sin is not bigger
Than His perfect love and grace.

The idols that take my time
Don’t deter his persistent love
He just keeps on whispering
To turn my eyes to Him above.

Its never too late to change
We just need to take His cue.
When is enough enough?
To hear God say something new.

Flipping the Upside-Down

God has been working on my heart this week as we send both boys to Manhattan and begin this exciting new phase of our lives.  And as I cleaned the basement bathroom knowing this time it would stay clean for a while, God kept giving me these words to make sense of this transition.  I love how He sees a small town mama’s heart. ❤️

Fullness in the empty.
Joy when we are sad.
A whisper in the quiet.
God can flip the upside down.

A light in the shadows.
An oasis in the desert.
The calm in the storm.
God can flip the upside down.

The order in the chaos.
The color in the gray.
The laughter in the tears.
God can flip the upside down.

The comfort in the pain.
An assurance when in doubt.
Hope when all seems not.
God can flip the upside down.

The Harvest

The harvest wouldn’t be the same

If we didn’t have to wait.

To witness something oh so small,

Bloom into something so very great.

It’s in the tending and the growing

Placing it in God’s caring hands.

Where all the time and love we’ve sown

Reveals God’s ever present plans.

The seeds are not ours to keep

For they’ll never multiply.

Every seed must be planted

For it to reach for the sky.

So, as we start the harvest,

We prepare to begin anew.

Giving thanks for all the things

That God alone knew and grew.

Finding Firsts in the Lasts

I stand here with my hands clenched fast

Memories playing through my mind

Desperately wanting to hold on tight

To when I held your hand in mine.

And as the tears quietly fall

I’m so proud of who you’ve become.

In disbelief how fast it’s gone

Now an emptiness to overcome.

I’m excited for the future

But it’s the “lasts” I focus on.

Mourning all that will not be

All the changes when you’re gone.

But maybe if I switch it

Finding the “firsts” within the “lasts”

The future will look brighter

When I’m not dwelling on the past.

For the “firsts” are a blessing

A celebration of what once was

A moving forward in God’s plan

Not in spite of but because.

Because of your decisions,

Your hard work, your growing up.

Because your heart holds Jesus

It runneth over, that’s my cup.

So when the tears sneak down my face

It’s all the love I have for you.

For I know our God, our Father,

Has greater plans for you to do.

Our Contentment in the Mess

We want it to be pretty

Our life a witness to success

We grumble with the curveballs

“Why me?!” our cries profess.

We want it to be easy

Routines void of any stress.

We crumble at the hurdles

Wanting answers, not a guess.

We want it to feel safe

Where fear does not possess.

Running from the worries

We doubt and we obsess.

And as the enemy stirs the pot

In hopes we would regress

Jesus lifts the lid

Adding contentment to the mess.

Our trust in Him outweighs

All the doubt that we profess

For Jesus is the answer!

Our stillness in the mess.

So in every situation

Lean on the One…He’s our yes.

You see, He’s the only answer

To find peace in all this mess.

Pay Attention

Pay attention to the whispers.
Lean in close to hear His voice.
For what you do when He’s spoken
Is up to you, it’s your choice.

Pay attention to the nudges
Grasp those proddings with both hands.
He’s leading you to do great things
Simply follow His commands.

Pay attention to the happenstance
Moments that surprise and amaze.
God is working, in His time
His master plan for all our days.

Pay attention to the simple joys
A part of His tapestry
He weaves His love throughout our lives
Always good to you and me.

Pay attention to the suffering
This is when He draws us close.
For even in the empty
He’s the one who loves us most.

Pay attention to all His glory!
Worship Him and Bow down.
Giving thanks in all things
As our days go round and round.

His love will never fail
We live in apprehension
Of sitting by His side one day
So thankful we paid attention.
