My Song

What is the song I sing today?
It’s Him I’ll magnify.
His greatness is above all things
His love my reason why.

For even in the busy
The chaos and the mess
He is in the middle
He carries all my stress.

I’ll give Him all the credit
As it’s His Will to be done.
Who am I to call the shots?
When He’s the answer to each one.

His answer’s always perfect
For He knows every thing.
It might be now or maybe later
In the meantime, I can sing.

I can sing of all His goodness,
His never ending love,
For life’s a whole lot easier
When my focus is above.

He's Our Happy

There’s happy in the suffering

We are to praise Him in all things.

God designed it just this way

He’s the fount of our blessings.

For there’s blessings all around us

Even in the dark.

God just simply places them

We must find them in our hearts.

There’s happy in the sorrow.

Though it makes no sense at all.

Only God can be the reason

Joy is found in the fall.

For it’s His hand that provides

Every thing good and great.

Even though we may be low

God provides...it’s not just fate.

There’s happy in the sadness,

A ray of sunshine in our tears.

Only God can make a rainbow

Out of our storms of fears.

For He takes a little rain

To make it crystal clear.

We can’t do this on our own

Lean on Him, He’s always near.

There’s happy in the worry

The what-ifs and all the doubts,

God’s the only answer.

He provides us all the outs.

For He hears our cries of trouble

And answers with His love.

When we focus on His power

Our Lord and Savior from above.

So what if going through trials

Brings us closer to Him each day?

We wouldn’t want to miss the happy

That only God can send our way.

Dust

He took a broken vessel

All shattered beyond repair.

Swept up all the pieces

It was time to do His share.

He collected it so carefully,

Every speck of dust he took.

He had a vision of the newness

How magnificent it would look.

He added a drop of water,

And began to mix and stir,

For out of all these fragments

A newness would occur.

And He formed a brand new vessel

As only the Master Potter can,

For He saw all along,

The perfect in His plan.

So when everything seems broken,

It’s in Him we can trust.

For He’s the only one,

To create anew from simple dust.

Teacher Appreciation

When I think of awesome teachers,

It’s the crew we have right here.

For we conquered a pandemic

And kicked it on it’s rear.

For it was in all our efforts

We have made it to this far.

We took teaching another level

We aimed high and raised the bar.

And while it wasn’t easy,

And left us tired and oh so stressed.

We have made a difference,

And learning has progressed.

We navigated schedules,

We consulted many lists.

Our students were our focus

They were the “why” we would persist.

So take a moment to look back

Reflect on all the good.

If any school could beat this thing.

I knew Reno Valley could!

Frustration

I’m at a loss for words right now

When asked what’s going on,

There’s turmoil in our district

With our superintendent done and gone.

Can I say that I am mad

With the injustice of it all?

For she’s leaving big shoes to fill

For whomever answers the call.

Do I say that I am sad

That our district is so divided?

We no longer act as one,

But instead, a ship misguided.

Would it be okay to say

I’m embarrassed and appalled?

My pride in my district

Has taken a mighty fall.

But when I look more closely,

There is still so much to love.

The people that I work with

Are going far and above.

For the students are always first

In everything we do,

Doing what is best for them

Despite actions of a few.

So when others start to inquire

About the direction that’s been taken,

I’ll stand up for our Panther Pride

Although we are a little shaken.

We mourn what we have lost,

We now hope for what is best.

We pray for positive changes

As we restart and reinvest.

No More Hybrid, No More Zooms

No more hybrid
No more zooms,
No more classes
From bedrooms.

We'll be together
To learn at school
Seniors on down
To little preschool.

Nineteen weeks
We were apart,
Learning divided
With all the charts.

Never thought
I'd be so excited
The day the call came
We would be reunited.

What a year
We've overcome
Marching each day
To this pandemic drum.

Flexible,
We persevered,
Now come Monday
We switch gears.
