I wander through my desert
Grumbling at all that is not
Ignoring all the blessings
The manna God has brought.
I wander through my desert
Impatient with my God.
Not trusting in His timing
Believing it’s all flawed.
I wander through my desert
Wrapped up in all my grief
Thinking He has abandoned me
Left to the enemy, the thief.
I wander through my desert
Ignoring how He provides
His loving hand is always there
Drawing us closer as he guides.
I wander through my desert
Complaining all the way
He tugs and pulls us nearer
In my blindness, I still stray.
I wander through my desert
Fearing the worst may finally come.
The cloud and fire remind me
Where my hope can now come from.
I wonder at His greatness
His great and perfect plan.
My wanderings aren’t for naught
His refining has began.
For all my misconceptions
He saw to the very end.
Simply trust in all He is
We’ll get to the promised land.
