To A Friend...

If I could take away the pain,

I’d send it to the moon

For if it should ever return,

Then it would be too soon.

If I could replace the loneliness,

I’d start driving to meet up with you

To laugh, to cry, to be a friend

That’s just what good friends do.

If I could add more time each day,

I’d give to the boys and you,

For making memories together,

And just doing what you boys do.

But I can pray and ask our Lord,

To surround you with courage and peace

To face each day, each hour, each minute,

To make the darkness cease.

I can pray for joy and happiness

To weave their way through your life,

To surprise you in moments

When all you see is toil and strife.

All I have are my words

And those I readily share,

To show you are not alone,

And that I really do care.
